Long Reef Aquatic Reserve - an important place for Waders!

The Long Reef Aquatic reserve is not only important for marine life, but equally so for birds, especially migrating waders. The Long Reef includes two important rocky shores, of which the larger eastern platform serves as a roosting spot for the birds. The platform itself is covered by water at high tide and serves as feeding grounds during low tide. I have started posting the birds of Long Reef, but will add photos of the area itself over time.

The photos are shown in the order I have taken them over the period of the last 6 years. It is interesting to see how my photographic style has changed over time as well as the quality of my camera gear has got better. Although I still love the Ruddy Turnstones in front of the white-water from the early days.
